Industrial Controls System (ICS) Technician Delta Solutions & Strategies is seeking a ICS Techician to join our team in Denver Colorado. As a supporting member of 460 Mission Support Group, Civil Engineering, you will provide Controls subject matter expertise (SME) in the area of control systems and energy management for a classified mission to meet a 99.9% availability rate of mission critical HVAC and power. The SME will have experience in distributed hardware, software and network communication elements used to remotely control and monitor electrical and mechanical equipment and systems. These elements will include, but are not limited to, chiller plants, air handlers, computer room A/C units, water and gas detection, fuel systems, water treatment, heating systems, primary and secondary unit substations, backup generators, large-scale UPS, monitoring and control software, and network communication equipment. Support is considered mission essential and work hours will be non-standard work hour shifts to support a 24/7/365 function to include nights, weekends, and holidays. This job may require emergency responses in support of the mission and requires an active DoD TS/SCI Clearance. Responsibilities

  • Plans and lays out work from electrical and electronic block diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical orders. Reviews work order requirements reflecting systems to be overhauled, repaired, fabricated, or modified. Visits work site and analyzes, evaluates, and determines damage when planning repair and modification projects.
  • Performs pretest, operational (functional), and final testing; final tuning; alignment; and/or calibration of highly complex electronic systems, components, and/or subassemblies.
  • Tests and diagnoses problems in linear electronics control equipment, identifying any malfunctions and the repair required. Makes judgments and recommendations regarding the methods and procedures for testing which may involve extending the use of conventional tools and equipment and improvising changes to techniques and procedures to reach specified parameters.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses problem areas and inspects for defective components. Conducts system tests for compliance with technical orders, manufacturers' handbooks, and local procedures. Runs special diagnostic tests and analyzes readings and operating conditions to pinpoint and isolate system malfunctions. Interprets engineering drawings to trace signal flow throughout the system while troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Installs, overhauls, repairs, fabricates, and/or modifies electronically controlled industrial systems, components, and/or subassemblies. Applies knowledge of logic circuits, electronic amplification, and control circuits, and of complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on electronic control systems to include disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration.
  • Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations ex. OSHA, UFC, AFI, AFMANS etc. and maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing. Follows federal and state rules when storing, using, handling, labeling, and disposing of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with environmental standards.

 

Requirements Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience with industrial control systems, energy management control systems, SCADA, building automation systems, distributed control systems, networked programmable logic controller systems, and/or critical infrastructure which involve collecting and interpreting user requirements in order to prepare system designs and modifications.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years previous instrumentation and control experience.
  • 2-year certificate from vocational technical institute in electronics or instrumentation (company approved training and/or experience may substitute for the education).
  • Shift work requiring highly demanding response times to return critical mission operations to full functionality.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, operations sequencing, and end devices used in these applications, such as air and water flow meters, pressure transducers, temperature transmitters and other automation peripherals.
  • Programming software packages from large single provider commercial vendors (such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic, Honeywell, Delta, Alerton, Schneider, Allen-Bradley) and cross platform human machine interfaces (HMI) and data historians.
  • Experience with ladder logic and PID loop controls and tuning.
  • Must have ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) level 1 (or company approved equivalent certification) or ability to obtain upon start of employment.
  • Delta III training by SetPoint Systems.
  • An active DoD TS/SCI Clearance is required to be considered for this position.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and the environment
  • All ICS technicians must attend Delta I-IV Training offered by SetPoint Systems within 6 months of contract start pending course availability. The training will be provided to the technician.
  • Knowledge of the Operator's Inspection Guide and Trouble Report, Temporary Issue Receipt Form, Base CE Work Clearance Request Form, and Tririga.
  • Working knowledge of communications protocols, i.e. TCP/IP, MODBUS, MODBUS TCP, DNP3, IEC 61850, BACnet, etc.
  • Preferred working knowledge of Johnson Controls Systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Department of Defense policies and procedures
