Mechanical Engineer

Delta Solutions & Strategies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Denver Colorado. As a supporting member of 460 Mission Support Group, Buckley AFB, you will work closely with government personnel as well as Delta Solutions employees who perform Power Pro, HVAC and EMCS duties. This position is considered non-mission essential and work hours will be 0730-1600 MST Monday-Friday. An active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a SCI is required to be considered for this position. Responsibilities

  • Performs O&M engineering involving maintenance, repair, upgrade, and operation of mechanical equipment and systems to infrastructure facilities, including utility systems, at a military installation utilizing a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering.
  • Manages the O&M plans and programs for mission essential mechanical systems throughout the installation. Manages oversight of the selected Activity Management Plans (AMP), Sub-AMPs, and other facility investment plans as assigned, tracks asset criticality and lifecycles, and measures asset performance.
  • Develops or oversees the preparation of plans, instructions, and specifications for the repair, modification, maintenance, and operational testing of new types of systems with many component pieces of equipment, where the employee must search out and develop new or greatly modified approaches because available technical manuals or specifications are frequently inadequate.
  • Maintains current mechanical engineering data for O&M projects/programs.
  • Provides recommendations for short- and long-range requirements for replacement of existing complex and major electrical systems, equipment, etc. Performs preliminary electrical engineering analyses on large and complicated projects.
  • Executes five basic processes: requirements identification and prioritization; process and issues management; preventive maintenance analysis and planning; corrective maintenance analysis and planning; and cradle-to-grave contract execution support. Determines where major failure problems or instabilities exist and how to correct them.
  • Uses computers/computer software such as information management programs, CADD programs, and project tracking programs to solve engineering problems and facilitate work.
  • Performs requirements programming in support of base development for O&M, military construction program (MCP), non-appropriated fund (NAF), military family housing (MFH), etc., to include validating requirements, performing economic analyses, financial and contract oversight.
  • Secondary to the primary duty of O&M, on a less frequent basis performs work in the construction management, design, and programming/base development functions. Monitors/manages construction projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities from start to finish, including the performance of preconstruction site surveys all the way to completion of as-built drawings. Prepares/reviews designs for a variety of real property facilities construction projects, determining the design criteria, creating cost estimates and time schedules, preparing A&E statements of work, etc.

 

Requirements Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Ensures federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and the environment are strictly adhered to in the programming, design, and construction of real property facilities.
  • Positive team spirit and flexible attitude regarding change, delays, or unexpected events - - Exhibit sound and accurate judgment and use time efficiently
  • Ability to work independently
  • Highest level of compliance with safety and security procedures
  • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers and email
  • Extremely detail oriented with ability to positively and interact with co-workers and participate in meetings

 

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience
  • An active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a SCI is required to be considered for this position
