Inspector General Analyst

Background

The USSPACECOM Office of the Inspector General (IG) conducts inspection, audit, investigative, and assistance/teach/train functions as directed by the CDR USSPACECOM and makes inquiries into any matter within the scope of the Commander's Authority. These functions report on the state of the economy, efficiency, discipline, morale, training, and readiness throughout the command.

The IG is the management point of contact for actions related to the execution of external oversight requirements; to include those levied by the Government Accountability Office, the Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General, the Military Service Inspectors General and Audit Agencies, and other Special Inspectors General.  IG facilitates, coordinates, tasks, consolidates, reviews, and submits Command responses for all external agency audits, assessments and reviews impacting USSPACECOM Area of Operations (AOR).  Additionally, the USSPACECOM IG facilitates, coordinates, tasks, consolidates, and reviews CDRUSSPACECOM-directed internal Command audit.  The IG also coordinates and prepares Command responses as part of external oversight follow-up activities to identify corrective actions taken to address findings and recommendations contained in previously published reports. 

This position is located at HQ USSPACECOM, Peterson AFB, CO.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently, developing external audit products and deliverables based on the timelines established IAW directives, policing and regulations specified for each tasked external audit as well as guidance according to DoD IG and General ccounting Office (GAO) regulations.
  • Provide assistance to the IG lead action officer throughout all phases of the audit process. These include: Notification, Planning, Field Work, Execution and results tracking on all audits, and Assessments and reviews impacting USSPACECOM and all subordinate components. 
  • Provide support with performance that is timely and meets all deadlines for each audit identified. Report drafting and communication to include updates/summaries will be a normal expectation within each phase and overall lifespan of the audits. 
  • Work with IG personnel to provide appropriate communication to keep all parties included in the status of the audit processes.
  • Create, provide, and maintain a method/tool and processes for status tracking that is available to the IG office personnel.
  • Provide a written staff review and recommendation as required for each critical phase and accomplish the collection of data in response to audit results.
  • Conduct data and document searches in response to auditor requests for historical information and documents pertaining to all USSPACECOM former and current Operations in the command records management system.

Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance and eligible for SCI access.
